Part two of my exciting trip out with the Hidden Spaces team - a visit to the old New St postal tunnel! I've been wanting to visit this tunnel for a long time, so was thrilled when Hidden Spaces got in touch. These tunnels were used to transport mail from Birmingham New Street station to the Mailbox, which, before it became the trendy spot it is today, was actually a sorting office. Rumour has it that the jewellers of the city's Jewellery Quarter would post their jewellery to themselves on a Friday, safe in the knowledge that the jewellery would remain locked and secure in the tunnel over the weekend - clever!
I loved getting to wander round the tunnel and shoot some pictures. My only regret is that I didn't think to take my tripod, so these shots are all handheld. I'd love to go back with tripod and do a better job of photographing this majestic feature...so if Hidden Spaces are reading this, then I'm VERY happy to come along again!
Here's a few snaps - make sure you check out the fantastic Hidden Spaces project website too.
